Originating from ancient China for the purpose of entertaining emperors, later being embraced by the Japanese, Black Light Theatre has become a typically Czech art form and, particularly, a renowned specialty of Prague. Relying on the imperfections of the human eye, the darkened stage acts as the black box with black curtains, actors dressed in black and darkened props that are all to remain unseen. What is meant to be seen is brought out by the black UV light, fluorescent or white props, a spotlight or projections.
